Amy began by celebrating the show's 50th anniversary, a momentous occasion, but she also took a moment to reflect on the incredible technological advancements since its debut. Little did we know, this would lead to a controversial statement about AI actress Tilly Norwood.
"It's a special night indeed!" Amy exclaimed. "Fifty years ago, women couldn't even have credit cards! Now, I sometimes wish someone would take my credit card away!" she joked, setting the tone for a hilarious evening.
But here's where it gets interesting. Amy referenced Tilly Norwood, the AI actress who's been making headlines and dividing Hollywood. She shared a funny memory from the '70s, when she dreamed of becoming an actress, but with a twist: "I thought, 'I wanna be an actress, but what if they invent an AI actress who's funnier and more daring?'" she said with a laugh.
As the monologue progressed, Amy acknowledged the tough times we're facing, but with a unique twist. "Times have always been tough, and they always will be," she said. "But we're lucky to have a place like SNL, where we can laugh and feel at home." And then, the controversial part: "To the AI robot watching, dreaming of this stage, I say, 'Beep boop beep boop.' Which means, 'You'll never write a joke, you silly robot!'" she declared, leaving the audience in awe.
Amy even added, "I'm willing to go full frontal, but no one's asked me yet!" leaving everyone in stitches.
This was Amy's third time hosting SNL, and her energy and wit were undeniable. She served as an SNL cast member from 2001-2008 and has made several memorable cameos since. Role Model joined as the musical guest, adding to the night's excitement.
