Day Thirteen – Unlucky for some?

Apologies - there’s been a bit of a delay in updates to this, due to distraction with Tales of Monkey Island, The Secret of Monkey Island, Aion Beta, and immersion in the Dualla Tempered sims game that I’ve been playing – I wanted to see what it would be like with a whole load of nasty traits – she did quite well in the end, Empress of Evil before she retired! (Dualla has passed on now, and her son Noto, and daughters Morag and Ariama are carrying on with the household).

Anyway, back to the Tempered House.

What happened on the ominous day thirteen?

Well, it was decided that our sims spend too much time apart, due to these inconvenient things called jobs, so every sim called work this morning and quit. Then they all went on a trip to the local pool. Here’s the taxi with all eight of them inside. (No idea how they fit – perhaps several of them are sitting on each other’s knees?)

Some odd sound effect draws our attention back to the Tempered House – what’s this guy doing sneaking up on the house?

Ohhh, he’s a burglar, come to steal some of our lovely goodies. Thank goodness for burglar alarms that call out the police automatically!

The next few images speak for themselves.

Oh no! Our burglar has gotten away. In the end, this is actually ok, since he didn’t actually steal anything anyway. Yay for Mr. Policeman (although his actual apprehending skills could do with a little work).

Our sims splash around in the pool. Apart from Eeni, who sunbathes in his suit (inside the building). Maybe blue skin is like really pale white skin, and is sun sensitive.

After a bit of a swim, and a chat, they head to the local diner for some breakfast.

Eeni is the first to venture indoors.

What a nice, orderly, queue.

After some grub, the housemates decide to hang out just outside the diner.

Viridian is the first one to head home.

Nice, quiet book for Viridian, alone in the house.

Vigilant seems to have met a nice young man.

Most of the housemates have ventured home, some went back into the diner for drinks. These are the stragglers, chatting to each other and random townies.

Meanwhile, back ~~on the ranch~~ home, Viridian has decided to slap Vigilant. Naughty boy!

Well, we could see THAT one coming. Viridian will be happy now that he has declared Vigilant to be his nemesis…

…and Vigilant runs away like a girl!

Let’s get a closer look at that awesome expression.

Meanwhile, Pippy is upstairs getting some exercise in.

Viridian sits and watches TV next to Shirine, who reads a book quietly, perhaps hoping he won’t pick on her next.

Vigilant makes herself feel better by sneaking up on Pippy.

…but instead of scaring him, she watches him running. That seems to make her very happy. Hmm.

Gorfast has collapsed into bed, exhausted.

Eeni and Pfant are STILL outside the diner, and it’s starting to get dark. Bear in mind they got to the diner at breakfast time this morning.

Vigilant feels a need to tell Viridian how humiliated she is, in an attempt to repair what relationship they have left. All Viridian seems to be able to think about is a sandwich.

Gorfast has arisen, and he and Shirine have a chat in the living room. He finally decides to take that meteorite out of his pocket. However did THAT fit in there?

Shirine has some leftover waffles from the fridge.

And then is the last sim to head to bed. (Not counting Gorfast who’s already been there).

So, day thirteen was filled with slightly more interaction between our housemates. Our sims are getting dangerously close to becoming Elders, without having achieved their lifetime wishes. In fact, as far as achievement points go, they’re pretty darned low. To be fair, they did start as adults, rather than young adults, and have been left to their own devices most of the time.

It appears to be time to start some sort of elimination process. Starting with the next day in the house, the person from each team who has increased the least in points that day will be “aged up” to elder and moved out of the house (to a retirement home). If any sim “ages up” naturally to elder, they will remain in the house until eliminated, at which point they’ll be moved out. When we’re left with one sim from each team in the house, the winner will be decided – perhaps on overall points, perhaps some other way.

Day Twelve – Things That Go Bump…

There are all sorts of interesting things to see in there, like our current happiest Sim is on the second lowest salary, and that Gorfast is currently the lowest paid – it just goes to show that Crime Doesn’t Pay, Kids! (Also – Money Doesn’t Buy Happiness – we’re full of cliché today).

Let’s see what our pixelated friends are up to on day twelve of their stay in the house:

Pfant has broken this shower, so has to fix it before work.

Gorfast started to chase this chap, who was peeking in the window. We didn’t get a screenshot in before he gave up, though. Gorfast’s action was called “Chase Peeping Tom”. Full of awesome.

The plants in the garden are starting to grow, although there are quite a few weeds in there. It’s surprising that they’re surviving without water so long. Nobody even attempts to water them today.

It’s repo time, and this time she takes the cooker. Hah! Serves them right for never paying any bills.

Eeni mooches a TV dinner from Devyna. She doesn’t seem to mind.

Gorfast and Eeni take out the rubbish together. Cute!

Now they have a bit of a chat in one of the bathrooms. Eeni’s having a whale of a time!

“I really thought the moon was made of cheese!”.

“That’s nothing, I used to spend hours looking for shooting stars. In broad daylight. Naturally, I discovered this was a great way of finding out when people are out of their house so that I can rob their stuff!”. Well, he might be saying that!

Whatever he said, they are both friendlier now.

Just how friendly, is anyone’s guess!

They meet up in the living room for a gossip.

Shirine cleans a bath in her uniform. If she cleans up the streets as well as this, then Gorfast and his colleagues had better watch out!

A bit later on, she’s working out when Vigilant decides to give her a fright.

She has a very expressive face!

These two are still chatting. They must be married (or the best of friends) by now, surely!

Viridian is pretty tired, he opts for a nap in his uniform when he returns from work.

Hunger wakes him and he tries to cook, but there’s something missing… hmm whatever that could be?

He eventually remembers that there’s a salad in the fridge, and opts for that instead.

Three cops, talking shop. “After using appropriate sterilization techniques clean and dry the cuff. Use a hair dryer if necessary to force moisture out of the lock cavity. Avoid temperatures above 300° Fahrenheit.”*

Gorfast has moved on to Vigilant. No idea what he’s rambling on about.

“You’re on fire, babe!”. Surely this would impress any girl? (Yeah, right…)

“Don’t you trash talk me!”

“Listen, I’m only trying to score – I need to start a family, you see!”

(It didn’t work, and they head their separate ways). Eeni and Pfant watch TV. Well, Pfant watches TV, and Eeni appears to be watching Pfant.

Gorfast has to be the most sociable sim in the house. It’s not doing him any favours, point-wise or career-wise, but he’s friendly with most of his housemates. Gossip, gossip…

Pippy has had a very long day. First of all, he was tired before he went to work, then he had just left the hospital when his pager beeped, and he had to turn around and go back, and work another full shift. He’s so tired, that he falls asleep before he gets in the door.

Poor Pippy. He sleeps for a few minutes, until he has rested enough to walk to his bed, and sleep properly there. These folks haven’t learned about finances, see the next lot of unpaid bills lying beside him on the ground?

Devyna was promoted today, she tells Gorfast all about it here.

Gorfast is our first sim in the Tempered house to use the telescope.

Now, where’s he off to?

He must be going far away, since he needs to get in a taxi… (he actually saw a meteor land, and has gone to find it. All the screenshots of this were too dark, so imagine him picking up a giant rock, examining it, and finding it’s worth 17,850 simoleons, then kicking over someone’s bin, and returning home in a taxi).

So, we end day twelve with Gorfast chasing over town to find a meteor, of all things. Devyna was promoted, and so was Viridian, who received his own patrol car as part of his promotion. We might have to put a parking space down for him, so he doesn’t have to carry it around with him all the time (yes, really…).

The standings are similar to before, with the two druids at the very top, although the Stormpeaks family are pushing themselves up to the top. Slow and steady wins the race.

*Viridian’s text was taken from this site on handcuff maintenance. (We googled it, the Tempered Sims team have no experience of handcuffs, and wish this to remain the case!).

Day Eleven

Day Eleven – Chatting Up

So, what happened in the house on Day Eleven?

Shirine wakes up very hungry, and she’s really stinky too. She heads for a bath, but before she reaches the bath, Pfant comes in to have a chat, and she forgets all about the bath. She then responds to her need for food, and goes into the kitchen to start cooking. This time, however, Gorfast comes over to talk to her, again she is distracted, although this time when the conversation is over, she goes back to her cooking.

Here she is after finishing cooking, about to sit down and eat. However, her lift to work has arrived, so she dumps the food on the floor, and runs out to the patrol car, trailing green fumes behind her. Quite a few others are up, chatting at the breakfast table.

Devyna picks up the plate from the floor, and puts it in the fridge for someone else to eat. I hope the floor is clean!

Gorfast and Devyna are watching the cooking channel. Gor tries some chat up lines.

“You’re hawt!”

“I have loads of money”

“I’m a big, tank. Rawr.”

“Books is good”

“I hope I’m not bugging you, I just think you’re pretty.”

“You’re pretty, like a butterfly”

“Ramble ramble ramble” (NO idea why he’s talking about a clocking in/out machine…)

“Ramble ramble ramble”

“I really am a tank. Look at my armour!” (Everyone knows that the skimpier the armour, the more the protection)

“I got these pants from the Headless Horsemen”

Maybe his chat up lines worked, Devyna’s thinking about bed…

Devyna appears be loving all this attention from the guys.

Now Eeni’s at it… “You are a ray of sunshine in a world of darkness”… (actually that symbol stands for the “brighten day” action – so it could be what he’s saying!).

Gorfast has a shower, and breaks it. Here he is, fixing it, and muttering away to himself.

Our garden is starting to sprout. Nobody has gone near it, though, and there are weeds there. It won’t survive long without a bit of TLC.

Vigilant discusses bait with Devyna. It’s probably fishing that she’s talking about, not “how to catch a man”.

Oh… maybe it WAS about catching men.

“Just blind them with science. Works for me”.

Viridian thinks about how to get promoted, as he insults Eeni’s family.

Then Eeni tries to have a normal conversation (about laptops, of course – what else would a person want to talk to someone about?)

But Viridian is intent on insulting Eeni’s… well, you can see for yourself…

“This is a bookcase”. Well done, Gor, you’re in there! (Sigh)

Gorfast must be pretty uncomfortable sitting on the sofa watching TV with two cops.

Vigilant goes for a swim… in her formal dress.

She then goes to lie on her bed (in the same dress).

Eeni talks about putting a “no swimming” sign outside the house. Nobody really pays any attention.

Viridian wants to make this shower “shiny”.

Looks like Gorfast is trying to find ways to compete with Eeni for Devyna’s attention.

“Do you want to be a star?”

Pippy is struggling with work performance in his new job, as his logic skill is zero. We send him to play chess.

“Would you like to be in a film?”

“You said you can make me a star – is that true?” (see Viridian talking about the Grim Reaper – perhaps that’s how he thinks Gorfast is going to get on with this latest tactic).

Gorfast has bombed out, so Eeni jumps in again. Here he is getting down to Devyna’s maturity level (age 3).

Now he tells her about his old BBC Micro in the attic, and offers to take her to see it. Is Viridian talking to Shirine about love? Whatever next?

Gorfast is back, asking Viridian what sort of TV he likes to watch. Viridian gets away as soon as he can.

Pippy and Vigilant are still playing chess.

Shirine heads to bed.

Viridian is very tired, yet decides to go eat some waffles before he goes to bed. He’s the last sim in the house awake.

Here he is, nodding off just before getting into bed.

Gorfast had a day off work today, and spent most of the day chatting to his housemates. He seems to be hoping to get together with Devyna. As does Eeni. From playing other sims it’s not clear whether this sort of thing would be initiated without a helping hand, so we’ll just have to see!

There are bills mounting up again, so repoman/woman will be on the way soon. If the housemates carry on like this, there will be no items left in the house (although that will take a very long time to happen).

Both Vigilant and Pfant were promoted today at work, which they’re happy enough about. Vigilant had a “chance card” whilst at work, where a colleague needed a test subject for an experiment. She ended up with an “itchy skin” debuff, which is possibly what triggered her swimming when she got home.

What will happen tomorrow? Tune in, same time, same place, and we shall see!

Day Ten

Day 10 – Running Scared

Pippy and Shirine have stormed up the leader board to narrow the gap significantly, there are only 315 points between the two teams!

Today we have to get our two scientists to plant some of those seeds and create a garden, but let’s allow them to go to work first…

A few sims wake up at the same time, Vigilant and Shirine look pretty hungry. Mind you, Shirine is so thin that she looks permanently hungry!

Viridian picks on Pippy in the hallway.

Pfant has a quick workout in the kitchen (just look at those muscles ripple), whilst Vigilant and Shirine gobble down their breakfast.

Viridian slaps Pippy in the face a few times – we were looking at the kitchen when this happened, so missed grabbing some screenshots of the actual slapping (doh!).

Pippy decides not to fight back, so turns tail and runs… like a girl!!! (No offence to girls, just he looks like one when running there, don’t you agree?)

He runs out the backdoor, and round the side of the house. Like a girl. Then he just stands there for a moment, presumably to calm down, and goes to work when his lift arrives.

Perhaps these two were talking at/about Gorfast. He’s studiously ignoring them as he reads his book, so maybe they were asking him to clean up the dishes or something.

With most of the sims at work, Devyna and Eeni are alone in the house. Devyna makes some waffles.

Then goes to tell Eeni about her job as an Astronaut. Or maybe she’s asking him some questions about the Exodar.

Whatever it was, he likes it enough to become friends with her!

Whilst at work, Pippy has a pop up “chance card”. He is being headhunted by the Medical career, they offered him a job. These sims have to take the left hand choice if they get these cards (it’s no. 14 (a) Subsection (iv) on Page 238 of the Rule book), so Pippy has now left his Scientific career to join one of longer hours, lower pay, and dealing with members of the public (ewww). As a result, he is home early. It’s his day off as a Medical Intern, but he has a pager with him, as he’s on call. Even though gardening isn’t required for this career path, Pippy is set on the path of gardening from yesterday, so he plants his seeds and waters them. If nobody looks after the garden and the plants die, so be it, however, they won’t plant seeds of their own accord, so he has to have a little helping hand.

When Vigilant gets home from work, she does the same.

Then she has a chat to Pippy about how much she loves jogging. (Has anyone ever seen her jog…?)

Gorfast has arrived home by now, he appears to be trying to decide what to eat. Meanwhile Vigilant sneaks up on him to give him a fright. Naturally that decreases their relationship rating.

Shirine has realised that Viridian always seems to be promoted before her, so she copies his tactic of sitting outside the police station and reading after her shift. Actually, they were both promoted today (although Viridian is one step ahead of Shirine), so perhaps this is an example of how to celebrate in true cop style. (Where are the doughnuts?)

Gorfast talks about bouquets of flowers, and Pfant likes that. Hmm… that could be an interesting couple!

Vigilant gets Viridian’s attention by walking around in her bikini. (Ok, it’s a gratuitous bikini shot)

Gorfast is rambling at Viridian, who is clearly bored.

Viridian has managed to escape, and now Gorfast is doing some cleaning. What a good criminal he is! He knows the value of hiding the evidence.

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Devyna has returned from work and is cooking again. Vigilant has managed to break the dishwasher so she’s fixing it by turning one nut over and over again with her spanner…

…which seems to work, as she’s finished, and it looks fixed, when Eeni comes home and mops up the mess.

Pippy’s pager went off, and he had to go into the hospital to work. Here he is at the end of his shift, waiting for the taxi to arrive and take him home. He’s pretty exhausted – he did half a day in his old job this morning, and then a full shift tonight in the hospital.

Pfant seems to be having a great time in the house. He’s off to bed, and that’s the end of Day 10.

So today we had a bit of bullying, a career change, the creation of a garden, and the blossoming of a friendship. Plus a lot of the scores are changing around. Maybe Stormpeaks are “storming” (pardon the poor excuse for a pun) up to the top and will tower over Icecrown.

The gap is narrowing, slowly. Maybe someone will catch up the druids and overtake. It looks like both Vigilant and Viridian need a bit of a boost.

Today it was time to send all the housemates on a course. As soon as they finished work, each went off to the relevant institution to gain some knowledge in the skill that specifically affects their job performance, as follows:

Part of the reasoning for this was that the two scientists (Vigilant and Pippy) were at a disadvantage, they needed to learn to garden before we could send them out to plant some seeds (which still hasn’t happened yet) so that they can skill up if they want to. All the others could cook/pick up a guitar/exercise/play chess to skill up, but these guys needed a little head start. So to prevent this being unfair, everyone was sent on a course.

So, what happened today?

Vigilant and Pippy appear to be talking about work.

Yep, definitely work.

Still work! Oh well, at least Vigilant seems to be able to maintain a reasonably normal conversation when she wants to. And it’s not even with herself!

Shirine thinks about her ambition to be an international super spy.

Viridian insults her. Maybe he thinks her lifetime wish is a bit childish?

Here he is in his lovely uniform for work. Doesn’t he look great in that hat?

Devyna insults Eeni’s family.

Then chats away to him about engagement!

She soon gets bored and goes to play chess.

After work (and courses), some of the sims go into this warehouse to read books. It’s weird, it’s not a library, but they all seem to want to go in there and read books.

Gorfast is particularly tired after a long day at work and then a fitness course. The red plumbob above his head means he’s really really annoyed.

He’s so tired that he nods off for a second while this stranger chats to him. He heads home to bed, and makes it there without collapsing on the ground.

Pippy cooks for what I think is the first time. Easy on the salt there!

Everyone’s pretty exhausted, a day’s work and then a course is pretty tiring. Devyna is the last to go to bed.

Lifetime Achievement Awards

Lifetime Achievement Awards – Day Eight

As can be seen on Day 8, every sim in the house had over 5K Lifetime Achievement Points. It’s time to spend them!

There are eight different awards for that number of points, and we have eight sims in the house, so they were each randomly assigned a different award. The next time we award points will be when they have all earned over 15K in total (that way they’ll have 10K to spend and can have awards from a different category).

The awards were purchased at the start of Day Eight, however we already had so many pictures, we wanted to put this in a separate post. Not all of these awards will have an effect, it really depends on the sim whether they make use of it! This is how they were assigned:

Vigilant

Discount Diner – Vigilant can now eat in any restaurant in the town free of charge. (She will still have to pay for the guest(s) if she brings anyone with her).

Pfant

Speedy Cleaner – Pfant now takes much less time to clean up the house.

Eeni

Fast Metabolism – Eeni will now see a faster improvement of his muscles/faster weight loss if he ever decides to exercise.

Gorfast

Office Hero – Gorfast will now find that his colleagues are easier to socialise with and he will make friends with them more quickly.

Pippy

Observant – Pippy will now be able to tell other sims’ traits more quickly when conversing, making it easier to stick to the right topics in order to make friends more easily.

Shirine

Legendary Host – Shirine can now host brilliant parties without any effort on her part to make sure her guests have a good time. They’ll have a great time anyway, even if she ignores them!

Viridian

Complimentary Entertainment – Viridian can attend events free of charge (like going to the cinema/theatre/concerts).

Devyna

Professional Slacker – Devyna can mess around at work without losing any performance, or affecting her relationship with her boss.

Day Eight - Party

On the morning of Day Eight we can see that some of the lower scores have evened out somewhat. Our druids are still running away with the scores! It just goes to show, putting two druids in the same group is way overpowered.

On the morning of Day Eight, a few sims got up around the same time. Here we can see what Gorfast is thinking about (has he been dreaming about Pippy?). I say morning but it’s still 2am or something ridiculous like that!

Vigilant decides to go sit outside on her own.

Shirine takes in a movie.

It’s not long before Vigilant goes upstairs to tell Pfant she’s scared of the dark (why did she go outside in the first place then?)…

Viridian works on his cooking skill.

Pfant has a bit of a chat on the pc.

“I heard you were promoted the other day, grats!”

“I think you’re from Outer Space”

“What planet do you come from?”

Viridian seems pleased with himself.

“I need to take my medication”.

Gorfast is asking Pfant about his day.

Pippy and Vigilant watch TV, and talk about books.

Viridian has just scared Gorfast by creeping up behind him. How he managed that in that corner without Gorfast noticing him is anybody’s guess.

Now they’re chatting about books!

And they like each other a little more.

Time for an insult - “You’re just a big baby”

Viridian is happier again.

Eeni reads a cookbook. He’s decided he should really learn to cook if he’s to be a chef.

“My moonfire is bugged, it doesn’t oneshot everything!”

Pippy has an urge to clean the worktop in the kitchen.

REPOMAN arrives – the housemates have still never paid a bill. He takes one of the pieces of gym equipment.

Pfant comes up to watch the man take his stuff.

Eeni tries his hand at actually cooking something

Pippy, Vigilant and Devyna have a three-way conversation!

It was going so well until Devyna decided to bore the others.

Results of this are that they all lose a little friendship status with each other.

Eeni’s cooking is going well.

Viridian broke this shower, so he has to repair it now.

Shirine blocked up this toilet (what are they eating?) so is now unclogging it.

Once she’s finished, Viridian creeps up behind her to give her a scare. He’s having a great time of it today.

It seems they’re queuing up to take a pot shot at poor Shirine. Devyna storms into the bathroom to insult Shirine’s family.

This does not go down well at all.

But Shirine starts talking about treadmills.

And suddenly they’re getting on well again. I just don’t understand these sims!

Gossip, gossip, gossip.

Now Vigilant is sneaking up on Devyna… here it comes…

“BOO”

Another relationship goes downhill.

Chatting in the bathroom seems not to bother these guys. Surely they’d be more comfortable in another room!

Today Shirine is throwing a party, but not in the house. She chose “swimwear” as the type of dress for the party. Here the housemates are heading over to the venue.

Well, Devyna is in the right clothing!

Ah, that’s better. Vigilant is probably going to stay in those clothes, but the rest are in their swimwear.

Pippy gets dancing with some chick in a bikini that sort of matches his shorts. I wonder if that was his chat up line.

A few others find people to chat to/dance with.

There are some picnics on tables outside to feed everyone.

Pippy and Pfant pretend to be Tom Cruise and that other guy in “Cocktail”

The guests are heading home now, seems like they’ve had a good time.

Our sims are having a chat outside.

Well, apart from Eeni who is making yet more cocktails.

And Gorfast, who appears to be celebrating the existence of the picnic basket in the universe?

The downstairs pc has been removed from the house. No more chatting online for Eeni!

The Tempered housemates arrive home.

Dev makes some hotdogs and eats them, alone outside. Most of the others have gone to bed.

She then looks where the pc used to be, and decides to go to bed since it’s gone.

Is Eeni considering marrying Devyna and killing her off to realise his Lifetime Wish?

Gorfast doesn’t realise that Devyna is a light sleeper. He joins Eeni in the bedroom and starts asking him about his day.

This wakes up Devyna, who is a bit annoyed with Gorfast.

Gorfast and Eeni appear not to notice, and have a bit of a chat. Is Gor proposing? Devyna is unable to get to the bed, so goes to sleep in one of the double beds instead.

Gorfast and Eeni finish chatting, Eeni gets into the bed Devyna had been in, so Gorfast decides to abandon the big empty double bed, and joins Devyna instead!

Here we are, the first two housemates to sleep together. Gorfast and Devyna!

Today in the house it was time to make a difference. The Tempered Sims3 2009 team decided to assist the four lower sims by directing them to undertake tasks that would fulfil some of their wants. Hopefully this will help give them a boost and tomorrow the scores might be mixed up a little.

First of all, the cooker was replaced with a shiny new model:

Pippy is one of the four lower sims. He gets to fulfil his want to repair the broken dishwasher. Here he gets down to work.

Pfant asks Gorfast about his experience getting arrested last night. Or talks about his own job. Tact is something that druids have loads of…

Devyna has something to eat and heads back to bed. Pippy is still repairing that dishwasher.

Both Shirine and Pfant start working out to the little stereo in the kitchen. (Pippy still hard at work in the background)

Vigilant decides to join in by dancing along. (Oh, look Pippy is still at it).

Pippy is overcome by hunger and stops repairing the dishwasher to get something to eat.

He has to wash his plate in the sink, and breaks it in the process….

So, after finally repairing the dishwasher, he gets to work on the sink.

Viridian reads a book that he needs to read for work. Orange isn’t quite his colour (but that was the point of those shorts ;-)).

Dev goes to talk to Pfant, but really doesn’t like the way he smells. Note Gorfast is working out, too – one of his wants is to gain a point in fitness. He didn’t actually achieve that today as he had to go to work in the middle of the workout.

Viridian accuses Devyna of being dirty and smelly.

They appear to have a chat. Looks like Eeni is off for a bath, and Vigilant and Pippy are having a natter.

Still nattering.

Eeni managed to clog up this toilet, so he was asked to repair it. Get plunging, Mr. Eeni!

Shirine practises for offspec – FACEROLL!

Pippy and Devyna play foosball and chat about rubbish. Literally.

Devyna wins the game!

“Have you been following Wimbledon?”

“No, but I clogged up the toilet”

“And Pippy broke the sink”

Shirine has a great time listening to Pippy play bad guitar solos. Vigilant sort of dances along, and Viridian just ignores it and plays foosball.

Pfant comes up to talk to Shirine about chemistry. Is he flirting with her?

Meanwhile, Gorfast has finished work (it’s Saturday, not all of our Sims have work today) and has a want to learn to fish, so off he goes… and falls flat on his bum!

Here he is trying to catch some fish. In the end the area was too high for his level (sound familiar), so he went and took a fishing course instead.

Pippy and Viridian insult each other.

It comes to nothing, and Viridian goes to tidy away the leftover food on the counter. Shirine to Vigilant: “Did you hear that Eeni has bowl n spoon n jug n stuff?”

Shirine and Pfant are tired – so head to bed (separately – look they’re even in different rooms). It’s around 6pm on a Saturday night. What party animals!

Viridian finds some people to insult on the web.

Eeni and Devyna have a gossip.

And become friends – nice one!

Eeni heads off (to the computer, no less) and Viridian comes over to insult Devyna.

These two really don’t like each other now. There are daggers out!

Ooooo the dust is flying as they attack each other.

Looks like Devyna is trying to strangle Viridian.

POW! KERSPLAT! KABOOM! THWACK!

Viridian has won the fight.

The two go their separate ways. Viridian heads to bed.

Devyna watches TV to chill out for a bit, and then heads off to bed also.

Finally, Eeni switches off this pc and goes to bed also.

Day 6

Day Six

So, after some minor teething troubles with changing hosts and upgrading software, we finally have the Tempered Sims back up to date. There are still a couple of issues with regard to performance, but they’re being monitored and we hope to have them ironed out shortly! The pictures now appear slightly smaller (they’re actually large thumbnails), but if more detail is wanted, just click on the image to open the larger copy.

It would seem that druids are happy, shamans pretty happy, priests relatively happy, and warriors not quite happy enough (understatement of the century). Seems to fit with what can be read on World of Warcraft forums (sort of)!

Icecrown have increased their lead to 4393 – that’s more happiness than any of the warriors have (and the priest and shamans)! It’s early days yet, plenty can happen to change these figures.

What “exciting” things did our sims do today? Did they brush their teeth (oooooh)? Did they wash their hair (aaaaah)? Did they … wait for it… go to work (ohhhhhh)?

Pippy went to bed after the party without bathing, so he’s still singed. I hope someone cleans those sooty sheets!

Viridian is having loads of fun watching Shirine worry about something or other.

She has a full on freak out to calm herself down. Did someone turn her into a bunny or something?

Viridian is upset at broken dishwasher (note that none of them try to fix it!), meanwhile Pfant mops up the mess that it has left on the floor.

Pippy has his hair back and heads off to work, as do many of the housemates – most of them start at the same time in the morning.

I don’t understand the “I’m having loads of fun standing around in my pjs” thing that the boys seem to have going on. Perhaps I never will.

I wonder where Eeni might be heading!

Devyna checks to make sure nobody left the taps running.

Oh look, he’s playing games on the PC… /gasp, etc!

Funny that he was so close to desperation for the bathroom, yet he still went to play games.

He had a wash too, and gets ready for work, then eats salad for breakfast (that someone else made). He’s in the culinary career, has never prepared his own food in the house, and has 0 skill points in cooking. Can’t see him getting far!

Devyna’s turn on the pc.

Not for long, as it’s “make silly face” time for her and Eeni.

She’s telling him how much she dislikes art. It’s a bizarre trait…

Vigilant and Pippy return from work.

Vigilant decides to go swimming in her normal clothes.

She gets out again shortly and plays guitar. She played for ages, got 2 skill points in it today.

Pfant didn’t sleep for long before getting up for work today, so he’s exhausted when he returns. He goes for a nap, then when he has rested slightly, he gets into the bed and sleeps.

Viridian has a night out on the town again. (Yep, straight home when he finished). He was promoted, so perhaps he’s celebrating.

What’s this? Gorfast left work, was promoted and promptly arrested. Here is is in the cop car, apparently chatting away to the driver as he’s driven to the jail.

Pippy gets out the soapy suds in the loo.

I’ve been trying to catch a good sequence of “Wonder Woman Swirl” shots, but it’s so fast. Here’s my best attempt so far, as Viridian changes into his everyday clothes after a bath.

“You’re a big hairy ape and you smell”

Funnily enough, that wasn’t taken very well.

Why oh why oh why is he apologising? Diplomacy sucks… just hit him!!!

“Vigilant is getting better at the guitar”. They have a bit of a chat and the relationship improves slightly. No fight from these two today.

Vigilant is still playing, Devyna is listening/dancing and Eeni is home from work (he got promoted despite having no skill at cooking – sign of the times) playing foosball.

A sign of how enjoyable the music is. Guitar at skill 2 is still pretty dodgy. Plus she’s in the music career, so she knows a thing or two about it. Devyna managed to gain 2 skill levels in guitar whilst at work today.

Gorfast finally gets out of jail. He’s been in there for hours, and all he can think about is going home.

Viridian is at the PC now – games etc!

Gorfast made it home without collapsing. He heads straight to bed. He’s had a pretty tough day, all things considered.

These guys all hate the broken dishwasher – but none of them fix it. We might have to do something about that.

“You smell”. Standard schoolboy argument there, Viridian. (Classic face in reaction).

More annoyance at broken dishwasher – at least he’s washing dishes though.

And Eeni is the last to head to bed tonight.

Just as Shirine gets up, eats breakfast…

…and starts a workout. (It’s 2am!!!).

All in all, a fairly standard day in the Tempered house. People got up, ate, washed, went to work, were promoted, got arrested, came home, ate, played games, chatted, insulted each other, and went to bed. Dull? Perhaps. What’s on the cards for tomorrow? We’ll have to wait and see if it’s more of the same, or if our sims do anything out of the ordinary. Gorfast is my first sim ever to be arrested – I thought that was pretty exciting (although probably not so for him). Well done that man!

Day Five

Pfant looks rather camp as he fits in a little workout also before work. Shirine is making pancakes in the background.

She abandoned the pancakes when her lift to work arrived, and the cooker caught on fire! She does have a debuff today from her unlucky trait: "Unlucky day", so perhaps this is why she did such a silly thing. Luckily there's a fire alarm in the kitchen...

Gorfast and Devyna perform a rain dance. AKA: PANIC!

Eeni joins in...

The brave lady from the fire service arrives in her rather small truck.

She extinguishes the fire, apparently soaking Eeni and Gorfast in the process.

The housemates demonstrate their gratitude... it's ok, they're not getting a new cooker just now, so they'll have to eat salads or use the BBQ for a while!

Here comes the repoman...

She takes a look around the house and decides that this top of the range stereo is hers now.

And it's gone. All the housemates now have a debuff making them less happy because something was repossessed (even those currently at work).

"I liek cake"

Pippy and Vigilant return from the lab. Pippy was the victim of an unfortunate accident, and here he's shivering a bit while thinking about that rocket that backfired on him. Vigilant is thinking about repossession.

"So, like, we had this fire here today". Meanwhile Pfant is thinking "I R STORNG".

I decided before playing this day that there would be a party, so arranged for Gorfast to invite some people known by the sims in the house over later on, so they're around when Devyna gets home from work. He's thinking about the party in the background here. Meanwhile Pippy hasn't realised that taking a shower will make his hair grow back, and he watches TV with Shirine.

I think Pippy has seen enough burning stuff today without hearing about the kitchen fire, Eeni.

Gorfast cleans up the kitchen ready for the party (wearing his formal clothes).

The first guest arrives.

Vigilant decides not to wear formal wear, and wears her casual, everyday outfit whilst she chats to Eeni and they ignore the guests! Eeni looks rather dapper!

Pfant hasn't changed yet, and is watching TV with one of the guests. I think Shirine wants to work out but the TV is in use already.

Pippy decides that since there's no stereo, he'll go play guitar upstairs.

So does one of the guests!

Shirine abandons the TV, and the pretty dress, and gets onto the treadmill.

Pfant gets changed (woah, cheetah skin - are those made of druid???) and serves the buffet. Is that roast moonkin in the middle?

The majority of the household, and guests, are upstairs listening to the guitarists.

This guest is laughing at Vigilant because she's not wearing formal wear!

Pfant chats to the weird dude that's dancing alone to the kitchen stereo.

...as he eats his way through the buffet. He's full already, he's going to put weight on!

Ooohhh I didn't notice this earlier. The upstairs computer is broken. Must have been Eeni's facerolling last night!

This guest is complimenting the housemates on the lovely house.

This chap heads home early, but appears to have had a good time.

Viridian talks about sirens to this guest - maybe it's a colleague from the squad. Meanwhile another guest is showing Devyna her engagement ring, and some chap has picked up a guitar.

Shirine finally gets off the treadmill (ewww, sweaty armpits!) and talks to a guest.

This lady has had a good time, and heads home. Viridian is very tired, and off to bed, and Pfant seems to be eating (again!). Although perhaps he's cleaning up.

Shirine is about to collapse, perhaps she should head to bed now.

The last guest leaves, after also having a good time. This chap was the one dancing on his own in the kitchen but he seems happy enough.

Pippy does some dishes in the sink. Someone has broken the dishwasher!

Eeni hogs the downstairs pc for chatting with his friends.

Devyna decides that maybe a musician should actually learn a musical skill, and gets down to learning the guitar.

But stops prior to actually gaining a skill point (which she has a "want" to do...) and goes to bed.

So day five was slightly more eventful than previous days - we've had a fire, a reposession, a singed Pippy, a broken PC, broken dishwasher, and a party. Also, Devyna was promoted at work, and Pfant now has enough lifetime achievement points to buy something, but I'm going to wait until they're all in a position to buy something before spending these. It will be interesting to see whether any of our housemates attempts to repair the broken items tomorrow.

So, what exciting things have they in store for us on day four?

Well it seems that due to working different shifts, our housemates are getting up and going to bed times at completely different times. I'm sure Dev only just went to bed, and here she is getting up again. Nice pose, Gor!

Viridian and Pippy had a nice chat, and are getting on well.

Gorfast and Shirine "do" breakfast. Not much chatter going on, but maybe those silences aren't awkward.

Shirine goes for a workout in front of the tv.

These unpaid bills have turned red. If they don't pay today, Mr. Repo Man is going to visit tomorrow!

Gorfast is such a gossip!

I wonder if he was talking about something "dirty" - they both want to go clean up!

Two showers (separately, I might add) later, and they're back. Gor is asking Eeni for gardening advice!

"I can lend you a DVD that'll help"

Gorfast is very chatty today, now he's explaining to Devyna exactly what spiceberry (his favourite colour) looks like.

Viridian LOVES to tell Gorfast that his momma is a llama...

In the background "So, I hear you're into computers". In the foreground "You don't think I'm a tree druid, do you?"

Background "Yeah, I'd like to buy a laptop, but until then I'm getting as much time on the pcs in here as possible". Foreground "No, you're a swan aren't you? I'm too scared to go near you in case you break my arm."

Looks like Vigilant is a bit embarrassed at Gorfast walking in on her in the bathroom.

"And then Nessie told me I should be a Rock Star. So, here I am!"

These happy faces mean that Gorfast and Pippy have become friends. The first sims in the house - good going, guys! Meanwhile, Pfant is telling Eeni about his promotion. (Today at work, Pippy, Vigilant, Shirine and Pfant were all promoted).

I think they are watching a gameshow. Perhaps trying to guess the Countdown Conundrum?

"I want to change channel to watch a romance, are you with me guys?"

Pippy works out in the kitchen. While thinking about gravestones...

Meanwhile, Devyna makes (very) silly faces at Gorfast.

Eeni demonstrates how to play an elemental shaman in a raid. !!FACEROLL!!

Gorfast makes his second friend in the house. Now he and Pfant are buddies.

Pfant immediately takes advantage and mooches a "TV dinner" from Gorfast - although where it came from, only Gorfast knows!

Devyna and Gorfast get to know each other a bit more.

Pippy is still working out. He's incredibly sweaty (see the green cloud of stinky gas under his armpit) but still he carries on.

Shirine and Gorfast play some foosball and have a natter.

"I wouldn't kick her out of bed" Perhaps a tad too loud, Eeni?

Viridian offers Eeni a shovel to dig a larger hole with, as Vigilant totally ignores them both and goes for the fridge.

Poor Shirine! Surely a night elf would have outgrown childish habits like jumping on people from behind several hundred years ago?

She has a minor "freak out" over that. What a nasty elf!

Well, there we have it from day four. We have some actual friendships in the house, some of the sims are getting to the next stage of their careers, and they still haven't paid the bills. I'm sure we're all going to sit on the edge of our seats to see who Viridian is going to insult tomorrow...

Day Three

Day three has arrived, and we haven't so far had a look at how our sims are faring on the lifetime happiness points front. I was quite surprised when I saw the points at the start of the day - this is how they looked (in Descending order):

As can be clearly seen, I couldn't have been more wrong - I really thought that Viridian insulting people was making him way more happy than the others! Pfant is obviously more happy generally in the house (apart from being allocated a number of points by having "wishes" granted, the points tick up when the sims are above a certain level of happiness).

And, of course, the team standings are as follows:

Still fairly close - only 1148 points in it - anything could happen to change this!

So, day three starts with 5 sims getting up at the same time! Shirine looks slightly hungry.

Devyna has a "moment"...

Then goes to gossip to Viridian and Pfant (who appears to have mooched some food from Viridian). She then goes back to bed.

Shirine has made waffles for breakfast.

Not sure about this, Pippy either doesn't feel well, does feel well, or is thinking about a nice doctor.

Pfant rolls up his sleeves (or he would have, if he was wearing a top) and scrubs a toilet until it's shiny clean.

Pippy plays a racing game.

Vigilant finds a guitar and plays a couple of notes. (She's not very good though, doesn't sound great... yet!).

Pfant plays a skateboard game.I might have to "break" these computers...

Gorfast takes in a match... well, part of one, as he's off to work in a few moments (Vigilant, Pfant, Pippy, Shirine and Viridian start at the same time and are already at work).

Devyna finally gets up... and goes to play a racing game.

Eeni thinks about gardening...

... and goes to chat on a computer -Sigh!

Devyna has had enough of gaming, so eats some waffles.

And then panics that someone has left the taps on in this sink.

Eeni looks very happy (not) as he takes a bath. Possibly because he can't garden or take a computer in there.

Devyna showers.

Viridian is the first sim not to come directly home from work. He sits down on a bench to read a book (radical, dude). And then comes home. You can have too much excitement in one day. Really.

Siesta time for Ms. Vigilant.

Pfant catches up on some reading.

Shirine is tired, so she gets a coffee to wake herself up a bit. Must have been a tough day at work.

"That dude with the green hair isn't a tree, he's a BIRD!!!111!!!"

Gossip, gossip, gossip. These two seem to get on fairly well.

Siesta time over, it's time to do the merengue!

"Did you see that?" Shirine and Gorfast watch a film.

Viridian insults Vigilant's dancing. Or something.

Pippy is either bragging about his own fitness/strength, or admiring Pfant's. Either way, Pfant seems to care more about what's in his salad.

I think this might be a rare sighting of the lesser spotted moonkin's "It's time to go to sleep dance".

If these two bubbles were related, she could be asking him if he wanted to go to bed, and he could be thinking "This might be the start of me realising the dream to be surrounded by family". But they're probably not that at all. More likely she is asking whether he slept well last night.

Devyna watches something about flower arranging.

Pippy and Gorfast are chatting right in front of the downstairs PC, and Eeni wants to use it. He can't get to it because they're in the way. Looks like Pippy is going to bed in a second anyway.

Oh. They're both going to bed. At the same time. Right. Well. Erm...

Eeni finally gets onto the pc and gets stuck into some american football.

However, shortly afterwards, Devyna comes over for a chat, and they improve their relationship.

Vigilant plays some chess on the upstairs PC. I bet she has the highest logic out of all the housemates. In fact, it's probably the highest out of any of their skills.

Pfant gets working on his athletic ability with a too-fast treadmill.

Devyna is the last to go to bed. It's after 4am and some of the others are starting to get up. Night, Dev.

So there we have day three. Another fairly non exciting day for the housemates. They're all going to work when they're supposed to, people are cleaning up, and nothing has broken yet. It should happen soon, by the law of averages, and then we'll see whether these guys fix it, call for a repair person, or just stop using said item. One of the computers might have to go, as too many people (EENI!) are spending all their time on it and not doing anything that's entertaining for us! Also, the bills are becoming overdue. Incoming repo man... Oh, and Viridian is still the only housemate to receive a promotion at work.

Day Two

Pfant is first up, and eats a salad for breakfast.

Devyna has a "moment" and rushes through to this bathroom to make sure nobody left the tap on.

Pippy enjoys an early morning swim.

Devyna and Shirine have a chat and get to know each other better, and as a result their relationship improves... for now.

Vigilant decides that an evening dress is the appropriate attire for working out. (Btw it used to be a Tauren).

I think Viridian is comparing Shirine to a Llama, and he doesn't mean it in a cute and cuddly sort of way.

Shirine doesn't like it very much.

Many of the housemates head off to work at the same time.

Eeni has some time before work, and gets chatting on one of the computers.

This big green happy face means Gorfast is having a great time. Standing around in his bedroom.

And now he heads off to work

Eeni and Devyna are the only two that haven't gone to work yet - neither of them has to leave for a while. They have a bit of a chat.

Devyna decides to go and chat to someone on a computer.

Meanwhile, Eeni cleans up the spoiled food that Shirine left outside last night.

Now it's time for this two to head to work. Love the uniform, Eeni!

Some housemates have now returned from work, Pippy is working out to the TV.

Pfant prefers a swim to get his workout for the afternoon.

Vigilant thinks it's time for a siesta.

Shirine thinks about going for a jog...

...but makes up one of the beds instead...

...and then goes to play american football on a PC.

Viridian is up to his old "insulting people" tricks again, this time on Pippy. I'm really not sure how he's going to be anyone's boyfriend if this is how he gets to know them!

Siesta over, it's time to get down to chess!

Pfant had a bite to eat, and cleans up after himself. Nice chap, I'm sure he's one you could bring home and your mother would approve.

Shirine had the shortest workout ever. She literally sat down, did one rep, her skill "dinged" and she stood up again!

Gorfast is home now, and comes upstairs for a gossip with Shirine...

Pfant talks about some sports team, and Viridian makes no effort to hide how boring he finds it.

Shirine cries over a bath.. okaaay.

I'm unsure whether Pippy was showing Viridian how to clean a toilet, or whether Viridian was supervising Pippy's work.

Shirine has an "episode" during a game of foosball. Gor just carries on playing. "Oh look, I scored. Oh, look, I scored again!"

Devyna comes over to talk to Shirine, so Shirine takes this opportunity to tell Devyna exactly how she thinks her makeup was applied. That (clearly) doesn't go down well.

Meanwhile, Eeni has returned from work and heads over to chat on the computer. Obviously the conversation offered by his housemates is far inferior to that available on the web.

Pippy and Viridian have a "hold your breath" contest in the pool.

Pippy doesn't last very long.Viridian wins!

"So you're a druid right? That means you heal me. I hit stuff and you heal me. Turn into a tree and heal me plz!"

Gorfast and Vigilant have a chat and get along quite well.

They both head to the kitchen for food

It's kind of like a date. So sweet!

Eeni eats some salad. Alone. His web friends can't keep him company at the table!

And Eeni is the last to head to bed on day two.

So, day two was fairly uneventful. No fires or fisticuffs, or any smooching. Some friendships do appear to be developing, but mostly our sims are just getting on with their lives.
Some bills have arrived in the mailbox, the sims do have a pool of cash to keep them going for a while, however if nobody pays the bills, the repo man will show up to take some of their stuff away.
Incidentally, everyone (apart from Vigilant) is sleeping in a different bed from the one they slept in last night.

Tomorrow we'll look at how the lifetime happiness points are coming along, and see which team is winning, and which individual(s) are ahead of the others. My money's on Viridian. Insulting people makes him happy, and he's been doing a whole lot of that!

Day One

Day One - Entering the Tempered House

Well, the day finally arrived and our sims arrived outside the house, went inside, did some stuff, had a fire, at which one sim passed out, all the rest were panicking bar one Brave sim, who put out the raging fire just before the fire brigade arrived. And shortly after that my pc crashed, and I hadn't saved any of it. So... I deleted all those screenshots and we started again.

Compared to the original Day One, this day was rather dull. However, they all arrived with maximum mood, and have only just started to get to know each other and use the facilities in the house, so there will be plenty time for more excitement to come!

Every sim had a "want" to join a particular career, so I sent each one off to apply for a job and then sent them home again. Careers are as follows: Vigilant - Science, Pfant - Law Enforcement, Eeni - Culinary, Gor - Criminal, Pippy - Science, Shirine - Law Enforcement, Viridian - Law Enforcement and Devyna - Music. Could be interesting having 3 cops and a robber in the house!
Anyway, here's what they got up to after I sent them home from getting into work:

Eeni playing American Football on pc.

Viridian and Eeni converse (the relationship panel said "Viridian can see Eeni is offended" - so whatever he did must have been pretty bad!).

Pippy tells Dev how he likes fires. (All I can say is "O Rly?")

Are they talking about handbags?

Pippy goes for a swim in his lime green swimshorts (lovely...).

Well, she's talking about marriage, but she's only just met him so surely it's not him she wants to marry?

Vigilant gets down to business working on her logic. She probably wants to get a head start on Pippy in the Science career track.

Devyna is now telling Viridian all about the Hammer of Justice. Which is interesting, since she's in a music career, and he's the one in law enforcement.

Eeni and Gor play foosball, and Eeni talks about computers.

Shirine wants to work out to the tv, but Viridian is already watching something else.

And this is what neurotic people do when something like this happens.

It's not pretty, although it IS entertaining (apart from Viridian appears to be completely ignoring her).

Pfant gets to grips with the treadmill. It's going a bit too fast for you there I think, birdy man!

Shirine gives up on the TV and finds the boom box in the kitchen to work out to instead.

Gor and Vir appear to be hitting it off (NOT!).

Vir insults Gor by saying something about flies living on him, which is a pretty nasty insult, to be fair. Gor didn't take it very well!

Eeni is now chatting away to someone on the computer.

Vigilant and Devyna are talking about Viridian's family. Don't ask what they know about his family, as they all just met today!

It's very hard to know what's going on here. Is Pfant asking Pippy to go to bed? Is he complaining because there are 6 single beds in the house? And is Pippy asking him to shut up so he can watch TV or is he thinking?

"I, like, love you dude". Perhaps?

Whatever he said, it worked. Pfant is telling Gor all about the health benefits of boxing. Or something.

Vigilant and Viridian have what looks like a very serious conversation.

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Devyna decides to make some macaroni cheese.

Miraculously, there is no fire (guess who started the last one?), and some of the others tuck in. Apart from Viridian, who made a salad and is eating that instead, and Shirine, who has decided to make something else entirely.

Hot dogs!

I'm not really sure exactly what Devyna and Pfant are up to, here. Maybe Eeni left the computer on at a non child-friendly page or something...

Shirine manages not to set the BBQ on fire. Shame.

Now she's had her hot dog she wants to go to bed.

Which she promptly does (without cleaning up)

Devyna has had enough, also, and heads to bed in her nightdress which appears to be made out of wicker. How uncomfortable must that be?

Do you think he wanted to sleep in that bed, or do you think he was hoping he'd fit in there? In any case he went to the one behind him instead.

Vigilant brushes her teeth before bed.

More nice shorts for Pippy. I guess he just likes tight shorts that are brightly coloured.

I totally missed these guys heading to bed.

Vigilant now gets dressed into her daytime clothes to go to bed. I think she's going to be quite fun in here, as wearing the wrong clothes could get some reactions out of other sims.
